Evolis has informed us of a security vulnerability in older versions of their software Badge Studio, Edikio Price Tag, and Edikio Guest. These versions use an outdated HTTP data transfer protocol for license activation, deactivation, verification, and upgrades via an API connection to the license servers. To resolve this vulnerability, Evolis will fully switch the affected data transfers to the secure HTTPS protocol on March 31, 2026. Most software versions are affected.
What does this mean for you and your customers?
From March 31, 2026, older software versions using the HTTP protocol will no longer be able to access the license servers.
The proper functioning of the software can no longer be guaranteed if it depends on the availability of license information.
This particularly affects Edikio Price Tag version 1.x.x, as it retrieves license information each time the program is started.
Without an update, Edikio Price Tag 1.x.x will automatically revert to demonstration mode.
Issues may occur with license activation, deactivation, verification, upgrades, and other license-related queries in older software versions.
To ensure optimal software performance, Evolis recommends updating to the latest secure versions before March 31, 2026:
- Badge Studio 2.5.1
- Edikio Price Tag 2.3.1
- Edikio Guest 1.1.1
You and your customers can download updates to the latest versions directly via the software menu under “Help” → “Check for updates” or via the Evolis MyPlace website.
IMPORTANT:
To prevent any loss of user databases for future use, Evolis strongly recommends performing a data backup before updating.
